Reserve your visit

An evening under
the stars.

The evening starts around 22:30 (at a confirmed time) with an apéro outside the observatory with a tour of the sky before we start using the telescope. The duration of the viewing is approximately 1 ½ hours.

The price is fixed for up to 4 persons at 250 euros.

What to expect

You can expect to see distinct features of the Moon, such as craters and maria, as well as the rings of Saturn and the moons of Jupiter when visible of course, and nebulae and galaxies.

Atmospheric Distortions

On occasion, factors such as temperature, humidity, and light pollution can influence observations, often leading to a shimmering effect. Observing conditions can vary greatly, so it’s best to select a clear night for the best results.

Emotional Connection to the Cosmos

Finally, looking through a telescope can foster a deeper appreciation for the universe. The experience of viewing distant stars, planets, and galaxies instils a sense of wonder about the cosmos and our place within it.

Terms and Conditions

You will be able to modify or cancel your reservation up to 48 hours before your visit. If you decide not to come, please be so kind to cancel your reservation as much in advance as possible. In this way, you will give others the opportunity to visit the Observatory.

For safety reasons, children under 8 years are not allowed to visit the observatory.

Please be aware that the visit could be cancelled in case of cloudy conditions or other adverse conditions (rain or strong wind). In this case, the visitors will be notified by phone or email within 48 hours before the visit.

FAQ

Is there a reduction for fewer participants?

No, because the effort on our side is the same for one on several visitors, and the interruption of the observing schedule of the main imaging telescope is the same.

What happens if I make a booking and it becomes cloudy?

1. if the weather or forecast is unsuitable before the start of the visit, then we can cancel or arrange another date.

2. if we have already opened the observatory and started the session, then we will continue as long as possible, but the session will inevitably be shortened.

Why do you have an age limit for children?

The telescopes are quite big and even for adults it is often necessary to use a small step-ladder. Smaller children usually need to be lifted up by their parents to reach the eyepiece and this is not really safe in the dark.

What if I wear glasses?

Our eyepieces are suitable for use while wearing glasses, but, unless you have strong astigmatism, it is usually more comfortable to remove glasses and adjust the telescope focus instead. We have an electronically-controlled focuser so this is very convenient.

Do you have disabled access?

This depends on the disability. The principal problem is for wheelchairs. Access to the observatory is not possible for wheelchairs, due to steps and restricted space. Furthermore the telescope is quite large and visitors need to be in a standing position, or even on a small step-ladder for objects which are lower in the sky.

In what languages is the visit?

We are fluent in both French and English.
